Sector specific Special Economic Zone for granite processing industries sector in the State of Tamil Nadu - Central Government de-notifies an area of 34.83 hectares - S.O. 4425 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ Division) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 21st September, 2022 S.O. 4425 (E) .- Whereas, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for granite processing industries sector in SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre, Bargur, Uthangarai and Pochampali Taluk, Krishnagiri District in the State of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , notified an area of 153.830 hectares and subsequently, de-notified an area of 58.290 hectares at above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Gazette Notification Numbers S.O. 595(E) dated 15th March, 2010 and S.O. 2835(E) dated 09th October, 2015 , respectively; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 34.83 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. 12387/MIE.2/2021-2, dated 10th February, 2022; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 34.83 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. Further, after the denotification, the area will be allotted to M/s. Cheyyar SEZ as an additional land; NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 34.83 hectares, thereby making resultant notified area as 60.71 hectares.
