Section 9 - Control of wealth-tax authorities - Wealth Tax Act, 1957Extract 1 [ Control of wealth-tax authorities. 9. Section 118 of the Income-tax Act and any notification issued thereunder shall apply in relation to the control of wealth-tax authorities as they apply in relation to the control of the corresponding income-tax authorities, except to the extent to which the Board may, by notification in the Official Gazette, otherwise direct in respect of any wealth-tax authority.] ---------------------- Notes:- 1. Substituted by the Direct Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 1987, w.e.f. 1-4-1988. Before it was read as:- substitution, section 9, stood as under: "9. Appellate Assistant Commissioner of Wealth-tax. The Board may empower as many persons as it thinks fit to exercise under this Act the functions of an Appellate Assistant Commissioner of Wealth-tax, and on being so empowered the Appellate Assistant Commissioners shall perform their functions in respect of such areas or such persons or such classes of persons as the Board may direct, and where such directions have assigned to two or more Appellate Assistant Commissioners the same area or the same persons or the same classes of persons they shall perform their functions in accordance with such orders as the Board may make for the distribution and allocation of the work to be performed."
