EDI System - Updating of, in wake of revision in Duty Drawback No. 609/99/2002-DBK(Pt.) Dated 21-1-2003 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Central Board of Excise Customs, New Delhi All Industry Rates of duty drawback are revised annually and the corresponding Circular instructions are given to the field formations to update their EDI Directories. This year, in the wake of representations received from the trade, duty drawback rates/caps and descriptions of certain entries appearing in the Drawback Schedule were amended through Notification No. 80/2002-Cus. (N.T.), dated 10-12-2002 and corresponding Circular No. 84/2002-Cus. of the same date was issued. Field formations were given clear cut instructions to update their EDI system and give credit as per the revised duty drawback rates. 2. It has been brought to the notice of the Board that the necessary changes in the duty drawback rates have not been incorporated in the EDI system and the exporters' drawback claims are still being cleared at old rates. Consequently, the exporters have to file supplementary claims and the settlement of the same is time consuming. 3. It is requested that it may kindly be ensured that necessary changes in the drawback rates are duly incorporated in the EDI System. The field officers may also be asked to update their EDI in future as and when any changes are effected in the Drawback Table.
