Do I need to pay tax for online tuitions I provide

  • Contents

Hi. I provide online video tuitions in a website. Interested ones pay one time fee. This fee is received via CCAVENUE. After deducting transaction fee, CCAVENUE, transfers the rest money to my account. The probelm is, through out the year, I have earned less than 25000 rupees. On the other hand, I have obtained GST in july.

So far, I had this misconception once annual turn over crosses 20 lakhs, then only we need to file returns. But now, after going through various videos, and blogs, I am bit scared as it seems we need to file details each month. I have not filed any returns yet. As I mentioned about the business details, I want to know, Do I have to file any returns. Or such income is considered as professional income. Because I could not able to find any GST Rates for online services.

And also, right now, I am planning to close this website, because I am going through no profit. So please guide how to close GST Account.

Note: I work from home. I ran this online video tutorials business by myself only. Any guidance will be truely welcome. Thanks in advance.

It is distance education and it falls under the category of "Commercial Coaching or Coaching Centre" . You are entitled to threshold exemption limit of ₹ 20 lakhs. If you retain GST Registration Certificate, you will have to pay GST from re one and file GST returns.

It depends on the Threshold limit. If registered and even having no invoicing even then NIL returns needs to be filed.
