The Supreme Court considered whether Section 6 of the General Clauses Act applies when a Rule in the Central Excise Rules is replaced by a Notification. The Court decided to refer the matter to a Constitution Bench for further consideration. Case tagged with SLP (C) No. 16223 of 1985.
