Persons of Indian origin abroad can acquire immovable property in India except agricultural land through authorized banking channels

Persons of Indian origin residing outside India may acquire immovable property in India except agricultural land, plantations, or farm houses, provided payment is made through authorized banking channels or non-resident accounts. They can acquire property through gifts from Indian residents or citizens, or by inheritance from qualifying persons. Such persons may transfer non-agricultural property to Indian residents, transfer agricultural property only to Indian citizens residing in India, and gift residential or commercial property to Indian residents, Indian citizens abroad, or other persons of Indian origin overseas.
