I am Kapil Chandna, a student of Law;

Wish to write something on suicide.

As we are seeing the growth in the rate of suicide especially among the young future of our country, I think there need to be law which should protect suicide. We have sections 306 and 309 in IPC that deals with suicide, but there is no provision present in our Penal Code that will help to cut this growing menace. My study on suicide shows ,mostly the young who see's their future totally black out take this step to end up their life or who think they are not good to get other things, i.e. They like some one but other person does not feel the same for them. Most of the students, who fail to grab good marks or good job, think of ending their life. My whole concern in writing this is in a country like India people do things because they are legally bound to do something otherwise who cares to put a helmet while driving motorbike or seat belt while driving a car, So I think a law should be amended that will put a legal obligation on the person related to the one who take that extreme and foolish step of ending his/her life Parents should be asked to communicate more with their child especially when they find their child in a difficult situation because I have seen if the children face any problem in life they hardly speak to their parents, because they think the parents will even scold them for the problem rather helping them and they ask their friends to help them who are not good and mature enough to help them. Children should be motivated on what they have really achieved rather being told that they are not good to move with them because of their HIGH SOCIAL STATUS, some changes should also be brought in education system by bringing more and more subjects like art of living and benefits of meditation, so that when they grow up reading such subjects in their life, they should never think of ending their life for such things. Awareness should also be brought among them, that they can do others things if they fail in doing something ,More mediation and art f living camps by the state government should be provided in different places which will generate awareness. I have seen many students who are doing B.Tech ending their life. I look very strange seeing a graduation student ending his life. I think we all have to take some serious steps in cutting this growing menace by telling the students and their parents that life itself is an opportunity to do many things and there seems no reason for ending their life if they themselves or their children fail to get something for which even they tried very hard.

AnyonemusthavehisSWOATanalysis -realistically ascertain his strength, weakness, opportunity,alternatives and threats.Success, failure,poor result all must be acceptable and one must learn that one failure can be a step for success in other work/step.Work sincerely and don't be afraid or ashamed of failure or poor performance it may be due to temporary reasons if so in next attempt there will be success. If the failure is due to some inbuilt inability or lacking, then one should think of doing area where he has strength or must be happy with performance-all cannot be toppers.I recall my experience,in every long vacation after class 10 I used to do some work.I gained experience in sales,purchase,brokerage,supervision of small groups,liaison,clerical work. I did reasonably well in all fields but I faced miserable failures in clerical work of writing books of account, preparing voucher and handling cash.This was during 1975-76I noticed that I was principally, fundamentally correct but I was not good at doing clerical work. This failure became my stepping stone I decided not to indulge in clerical aspects but to concentrate and master underlying theories instead of doing calculations/ writing books of a/c. I scored highest marks in CA final 11/1982 Exam in Cost records and Control but it was due to my strength in theory- in fact I had left most of calculations to be done by my clerk by mentioning that I am appearing for exam of CA and not of a clerk.Examiner was tuned with me and he granted 84 marks-highest.Some other examiner could grant me around 50 with some grace if he preferred clerical work- which I could not afford to do due to lengthy paper and my weakness.in that exam, many had left examination hall after sitting for minimum time to go but I used 180 minutes to show my fundamental knowledge.After CA and CWA I did CS inter in accts got 48 it could be 84 if examiner liked my fundamentals. These aspects should be understood by all concerned.

Just few days ago an Engineer (30)of an airlines committed suicide merely because he was not transferred to Kolkata.This shows that an intelligent and successful man having bright future committed suicide on a very temporary matter. He could have adjusted to posting at other place, he could have joined some other service, he could have taken leave for some days to let unhappiness subside. unfortunately, many parents in zeal of showing utmost love and affection are causing behavioral problems in children. meeting every demand of child immediately is not good,children must be trained to have some waiting period, some patience, some things missing(for short or long time), to gain happiness from what he has instead of be unhappy for what he does not have. Similarly parents must also be happy with performance of child if it is reasonably good in given circumstances and as per strength of child. Children must be trained and motivated to learn their strengths and to improve them and also to work hard to reduce points or area of weakness. Expecting too much and in all fields can put child to strain and cause behavioral problems leading to tendency of depression , tension and suicide.
