Government Modifies Tax Filing Process: Centralized Counters for Income Tax Returns to be Operational by April 1, 1976.

The Direct Taxes Enquiry Committee's Recommendation No. 416 has been accepted by the government with modifications, mandating new arrangements for filing income tax returns. Centralized counters will be established in city charges for each Income-tax Circle or District to receive returns, whether delivered by post or messenger. In mofussil charges, similar arrangements will be implemented within each tax circle. Commissioners of Income-tax are instructed to ensure these arrangements are operational by April 1, 1976.
