Direct Taxes Enquiry Committee for filing of returns of income. - Income Tax - 911/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO . 911/CBDT Dated : January 14, 1976 Reference is invited to Recommendation No. 416 (Para No. 6.124) of the Direct Taxes Enquiry Committee in respect of arrangements for filing of returns of income. This recommendation has been accepted by the Government with certain modifications. Accordingly, the following arrangements have to be made for receipt of returns of income:- (a) In city charge centralised counters may be opened for receipt of returns of income for each Income-tax Circle or District as the cases may be. (b) In mofussil charges arrangements for receipt of returns should be made in each tax circle. The centralised counters should receive the returns whether they are sent through post or by messengers. 2. Commissioners of Income-tax may kindly ensure that the above arrangements are made effective from 1-4-1976 without fail.
