20.234-hectare area in Mohali, Punjab designated as IT Special Economic Zone and Inland Container Depot.

The Central Government has designated a 20.234-hectare area in SAS Nagar, Mohali, Punjab, as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology and IT-enabled services, proposed by a private company. The notification, dated November 21, 2016, confirms compliance with the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, and establishes an Approval Committee for the SEZ. The committee includes various government officials and a representative from the developer. The SEZ is also designated as an Inland Container Depot effective the same date, under the Customs Act, 1962.
