Government Exempts Bio-Diesel Blends from Additional Excise Duty in 2009; Rescinded in 2018 by Notification No. 05/2018.

The Central Government issued a notification on July 7, 2009, exempting high-speed diesel oil blended with up to 20% alkyl esters of long-chain fatty acids from vegetable oils, known as bio-diesels, from additional excise duty. This exemption applies to blends with at least 80% high-speed diesel oil, provided appropriate excise duties and taxes have been paid. The definitions for "appropriate duties of excise" and "appropriate central tax, State tax, Union territory tax, and integrated tax" are specified. The notification was later rescinded by Notification No. 05/2018 on February 2, 2018.
