Customs Duty Exemption for Radar Components Rescinded in 1997; Previously Required DGCA Certification for Airport Modernization.

Notification No. 71/95-Cus, dated March 16, 1995, issued under the Customs Act, 1962, exempts certain imported goods from customs duty beyond 25% ad valorem. This exemption applies to components, parts, sub-assemblies, SKD kits, CKD kits of Approach Surveillance Radar and Mode-S Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar, and related maintenance spares imported by a specified company for manufacturing and supplying to Indian airport authorities. The exemption is contingent upon the importer providing a certificate from the Director General of Civil Aviation, confirming the goods are necessary for airport modernization. This notification was rescinded by Notification No. 21/97-Cus on March 1, 1997.
