The Central Government has issued a notification under the Customs Act, 1962, granting an exemption for the import of rHu Erythropoietin (Hemax), classified under Chapter 30 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The exemption reduces the customs duty to 10% ad valorem and waives the entire additional duty under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act. This decision, effective from September 10, 1993, is made in the public interest to facilitate the import of this pharmaceutical product into India.
