Government Rescinds Service Tax Exemption for Air Travel Agents Booking for Diplomatic Missions Effective May 23, 2007

The notification issued on June 15, 1998, by the Central Government under the Finance Act, 1994, granted an exemption from service tax for air travel agents providing booking services for air travel to specific Diplomatic Missions. This exemption applied to missions from countries listed in an annexed schedule, including Australia, Argentina, China, and the United States, among others. However, this exemption was later rescinded by a subsequent notification dated May 23, 2007.
