Amendment Restricts Import of Antiques Over 100 Years Old Under Code 97060000; Antiquarian Books Unaffected

The Central Government has amended the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items for the period 2004-09, specifically under code 97060000, concerning antiques over 100 years old. These items are now classified as "Restricted" for import. However, they are allowed under a saving clause in the Foreign Trade (Exemption from Application of Rules in Certain Cases) Order, 1993, and Customs Notification 157 from 1990. Import of antiquarian books remains unrestricted. This amendment is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
