Government Notifies New IT Special Economic Zone in Tamil Nadu Under SEZ Act, 2005; Developer Name Changed in 2007

The Central Government has notified a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services at Sholinganallur, Tambaram Taluk, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. Initially proposed by a company under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, the SEZ received approval on August 22, 2006. The developer's name was changed from the original company to its subsidiary, which was approved on April 11, 2007. The notified area comprises various survey numbers totaling 18.60.4 hectares. This notification was published by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on May 3, 2007.
