Central Government Amends Central Excise Rules, Adds Rule 30A Limiting Goods Removal During Budget Presentations

The Central Government has amended the Central Excise (No.2) Rules, 2001, introducing Rule 30A which restricts the removal of goods from factories or warehouses during specific times related to the presentation or introduction of the Central Government's Annual or Supplementary Budget, Finance Bill, or other duty-related bills. Goods cannot be removed during these times unless the assessee obtains permission from the Commissioner and submits an acknowledged application before the deadline. The rule ensures compliance with any enhanced duty rates effective after the presentation of such bills. The amendment takes effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
