Seeks to recind Notification No. S.O. 277(E) dated 7th, February 2008 - S.O. 4633 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th December, 2020 S.O. 4633(E). -WHEREAS, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a Special Economic Zone for Footwear sector at Footwear Park, Irungattukottai SIPCOT Industrial Park, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District in the State of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zone Rules 2006 , had notified an area of 62.22 hectares vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 277(E) dated 7th, February 2008 ; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed to de-notify entire area of 62.22 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given No Objection Certificate to the proposal vide Letter No. 7414/MIE.2/2019-1 dated 19th August, 2019; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of entire area of 62.22 Hectares of the Special Economic Zone; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006, the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
