PART XII. FINANCE, PROPERTY, CONTRACTS AND SUITS CHAPTER I FINANCE (General) 1 [Article 264. Interpretation.- In this Part, Finance Commission means a Finance Commission constituted under article 280. ] ******************* NOTES:- 1 . Substituted vide Article 29 of the Constitution (7th Amendment) Act, 1956 dated 19-10-1956 w.e.f. 01-11-1956, before it was read as, 264. Interpretation. In this Part, unless the context otherwise requires, (a) Finance Commission means a Finance Commission constituted under Article 280; (b) State does not include a State specified in Part C of the First Schedule; (c) references to States specified in Part C of the First Schedule shall include references to any territory specified in Part D of the First Schedule and any other territory comprised within the territory of India but not specified in that Schedule.
