Rescinds the sector specific Special Economic Zone for stainless steel and ancillary/downstream industry at Kalinganagar in the State of Orissa. - S.O. 1948(E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 23rd August, 2011 S.O. 1948(E).- Whereas, M/s. JSL Limited (Formerly, M/s. Jindal Stainless Steel Limited) had proposed under Section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for stainless steel and ancillary/downstream industry at Kalinganagar in the State of Orissa; And, whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zone Rules, 2006 , had notified an area of 142.115 hectares at the above location as Special Economic Zone vide the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 2004(E), dated 28th November, 2007; And, whereas, M/s. JSL Limited has proposed to denotify the entire area of 142.115 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone and the Central Government has granted letter of approval for denotification of above area on 21 st September, 2010; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
