Rescinds the sector specific Special Economic Zone for “Automobile and Automobiles Components” at Waluj Industrial area within village limit of Pandhapur Waladgaon and Kamalapur, Taluka Gangapur, District Aurangabad in the State of Maharashtra - S.O. 1993(E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 30th July, 2014 S.O. 1993(E).- Whereas M/s. Bajaj Holdings and Investment Limited (earlier M/s. Bajaj Auto Limited), a Private Organisation in the State of Maharashtra, had proposed under Section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Automobile and Automobiles Components at Waluj Industrial area within village limit of Pandhapur Waladgaon and Kamalapur, Taluka Gangapur, District Aurangabad in the State of Maharashtra; And, whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the said Act read with Rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , had notified an area of 100.26 hectares at above Special Economic Zone vide the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 591(E), dated 17th April, 2007; And, whereas, sector of the above mentioned SEZ was changed from Automobile and Automobiles Components to Engineering vide approval letter No. F.2/94/2006-EPZ dated 29th September, 2007; And, whereas, M/s. Bajaj Holdings and Investment Limited has now proposed to de-notify the entire area of 100.26 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone and the State Government of Maharashtra has given its No Objection to the proposal vide letter No. SEZ-2012/CR-201/2012/Ind-2 dated 22.11.2013; And, whereas, the Development Commissioner, SEEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of the entire area of 100.26 hectares of the Special Economic Zone; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rule 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
