Sector specific Special Economic Zone for Aluminum and Aluminum products in the State of Odisha - Area de-notified - Seeks to rescind Notification No. S.O. 499 (E) dated 13th March, 2008 - S.O. 4060 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 30th August, 2022 S.O. 4060 (E). -WHEREAS, M/s. Hindalco Industries Limited had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Aluminum and Aluminum products at Village- Lapanga, Tehsil Rengali, District- Sambalpur in the State of Odisha; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zone Rules 2006 , notified an area of 115.706 hectares at above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Gazette Notification Number S.O. 499 (E) dated 13th March, 2008 ; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Hindalco Industries Limited has now proposed to de-notify the entire area of 115.706 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Odisha has given No Objection Certificate to the proposal vide letter No. 10084/I. dated 10th December, 2021. Further, the Developer vide letter dated 14.04.2022 has submitted that the above said notified land is utilised for overall aluminium project of the company and it will continue to be used for the same purpose; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Falta Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of entire area of 115.706 hectares of the Special Economic Zone; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
