Trade Agreement with Malaysia

Investments have been received from Malaysian companies in various sectors including Construction Development: Townships, housing, built-up infrastructure and construction-development projects. Top five sectors that have attracted FDI equity inflows from Malaysia between April 2000 and May 2014 are as under:

India and Malaysia has signed a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) on 18.2.2011 which has come into effect from 1.7.2011. The Agreement includes chapters on Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Investment and other areas of economic cooperation. Details of the Agreement are available in public domain.

India and Malaysia agreed to target a bilateral trade volume of US$ 15 billion by 2015.

The information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
