  • Contents

Could Somebody assist me for this question.

Once I buy the ingredients, suppose, if the cost of ingredients + making charges of food is ₹ 100.

How much percentage of profit I can include on top of ₹ 100.

I am asking to clarify the legally allowed percentage of profit as per law.

Your profit earning would be dependent on following factors, viz:

  1. Market Forces;
  2. Demand & Supply;
  3. Competition
  4. Quality of your goods and services so offered.
  5. Governmental Rules & Regulation
  6. Overheads Expenses
  7. Location of your business

Generally in providing services topping up profit may go up to 70% -100% and in manufacturing sector it may go upto 10% to 35% or more.

M/s.YAGAY AND SUN,

Dear Sir, For my knowledge sake, will you please inform any rule of Central Govt. or State regarding the percentage of profit mentioned by you ? Regarding the percentage of the profit in Service Sector i.e. 70 to 100, it cannot be digested. Will you please oblige me by confirmation ?

Thanks & regards.

Dear Sir,

Please check my reply. I haven't said that there is any rule/regulation that exists, my contention is that it can be to that particular extent. In Hotel like Taj you get a Tea for ₹ 500/- whereas on Road side Dhaba, you can get it at ₹ 10/- only. Now, see the difference and the profit margin incorporated in such types of transactions.

Now coming back to Service Sector profit margin, we all know in consultancy business we just play due to our study, understanding and knowledge. Our cost uses to be very low in terms or in comparison to our fees i.e. near about to Profit Margin of 75% to 100%.wink Or sometimes 1000%. Yes, believe me.

Doctors are charging ₹ 750 from Patients just for 5 minutes consultancy.

Lawyers are charging ₹ 10000/- for 15 minutes consultancy and for 50 page opinions etc. they are charging 3 Lacs to 50 Lacs.

In automotive sector profit margin is 15-30%

In Chemical Sector profit margin in 18 - 35%

In Pharmaceutical Sector Profit margin is 20-40%

Dear Sirs,

Do you agree if I say income from profession of consultancy is 'Transaction Value' for the purpose of TDS (Income Tax). More the transaction value, more TDS to Govt.

Dear Sir,

If we are earning more, then, there should not any hitch in paying taxes. Due to payment of taxes within prescribed time limit our elected Government initiate many schemes for our poor brother and sisters, for our soldiers Government can make/purchase best equipment which can not only surely save the life of soldiers as well as secure our Borders from our countries enemies. Agriculture Sector, R&D Sector, Infrastructure sector, Space Sector, Telecom Sector and many more are dependant on honestly paid taxes by us.

Paying taxes will surely make our country a great country and a Super Power Country.

Jai Hind
