The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis, stood at 12.98 percent (Provisional) for the week ended 19/03/2011 (over 20/03/2010) as compared to 13.53 percent (Provisional) for the previous week (ended 12/03/2011). The groups and items for which the index showed variations during the week are as follows:- The index for 'Food Articles' group declined by 0.5 percent to 178.7 (Provisional) from 179.6 (Provisional) for the previous week due to lower prices of egg (3%), condiments spices and fish-marine (2% each) and wheat, mutton, fruits vegetables, arhar and tea (1% each). However, the prices of ragi, urad and maize (2% each) and bajra and poultry chicken (1% each) moved up. The .....

..... index for 'Non-Food Articles' group declined by 0.2 percent to 189.9 (Provisional) from 190.3 (Provisional) for the previous week due to lower prices of raw rubber (10%), soyabean and raw silk (2% each) and gingelly seed (sesamum), sunflower, mesta and raw jute (1% each). However, the prices of gaur seed (8%), groundnut seed (6%), rape mustard seed, castor seed, copra and flowers (1% each) moved up. FUEL POWER (Weight 14.91%) The index for this major group rose by 0.4 percent to 158.5 (Provisional) from 157.9 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of aviation turbine fuel (7), light diesel oil (3%) and naphtha, bitumen and furnace oil (1% each).
