The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis, stood at 12.08 percent (Provisional) for the week ended 16/04/2011 (over 17/04/2010) as compared to 11.96 percent (Provisional) for the previous week (ended 09/04/2011). The groups and items for which the index showed variations during the week are as follows:- The index for 'Food Articles' group declined by 0.2 percent to 182.6 (Provisional) from 182.9 (Provisional) for the previous week due to lower prices of fish-inland (4%), poultry chicken and fish-marine (3% each), egg (2%) and wheat, gram, masur and arhar (1% each). However, the prices of jowar (3%), maize (2%) and milk, condiments & spices, ragi, barley, urad and mutton (1% each) moved up. The index for 'Non-Fo ..... However, the prices of mesta (4%), groundnut seed and raw silk (2% each) and gaur seed and sunflower (1% each) moved up. The index for 'Minerals' group rose by 3.0 percent to 267.0 (Provisional) from 259.2 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of iron ore (9%), zinc concentrate (6%) and copper ore (1%).
