RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN GST - By: - Dr. Sanjiv Agarwal - Goods and Services Tax - GST - Dated:- 28-9-2019 - - During last one month, there have been five major announcements by Union Finance Minister offering tax sops, economic reliefs and credit / export related measures which ensures ease of doing business in ongoing economic recession. All such measures are other than GST. In its latest move, corporate income tax rates have been slashed, from 30% to 22%, from 25% to 15% for new companies and MAT from 18.5% to 15%. This led to unprecedented upsurge in stock indices too. Such measures are expected to revive the ailing industry and support GDP growth. While these moves are considered bold, fiscal management would remain a challenge. Now .....
