The Appellate Tribunal CESTAT, Mumbai upheld the confiscation of 6000 Lithium Batteries imported without the required license, categorized as consumer goods. The fine was reduced to Rs. 1 lakh and penalty to Rs. 15,000 for the importers who were actual users in manufacturing Electronic Energy Meters. The appeal was partly allowed with consequential relief.
