The High Court of Madras ruled in favor of the film actor, stating that the sum of 5,676.80 Singapore dollars cannot be taxed in his hands as it was received by his secretary for troupe expenses and not by the actor himself. The Tribunal accepted the explanation provided by the secretary and found no evidence of concealed income received by the actor.
