The petitioner purchased timber from Indore, Madhya Pradesh and transported it to Madras. Check-post officer in Ranipet rejected sale bills in Gujarathi language, collected fee, and released the consignment. Deputy Commissioner and Joint Commissioner rejected petitioner's revisions. Joint Commissioner rejected sale bills due to non-compliance with Tamil Nadu General Sales Tax Rules. Court ruled in favor of petitioner, quashed orders, and granted refund. No costs awarded.
