The Supreme Court set aside the interim order of the Bombay High Court regarding containers lying in the port area for an extended period. It directed the goods to be sold by the port authority through public auction or private treaty. Purchasers must clear the goods within a fortnight of sale, or the port authority can dispose of them. Respondent 1 can remove containers after destuffing on payment of outstanding ground rent, to be deposited in the Bombay High Court. The High Court will decide on the ground rent issue. Customs authorities are not allowed to stop the sale of imported goods by the Port Trust. The appeals are disposed of.
