The six appellants were convicted of house-breaking by night and dacoity under Sections 457, 395, and 397 of the Indian Penal Code. The records of their appeal were destroyed in a fire at the Assistant Sessions Judge's court. As per Section 423(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code, a re-trial is ordered by the Sessions Judge of Ramnad due to lack of available records.
