The Supreme Court condoned delay and granted Special Leave in a case where a writ petition by the State of U.P. was dismissed by the High Court due to delay. The Supreme Court found the explanation for the delay acceptable, especially in a case involving the U.P. Agricultural Land Ceiling Law. The High Court was deemed unjustified in rejecting the case solely based on delay and the petition was remitted back to the High Court for disposal on merits. No costs were awarded. (Case Citation: 1983 (4) TMI 51 - Supreme Court)
