1986 (11) TMI 67 - SCH - Central Excise
The Supreme Court of India condoned the delay in filing the appeal on the condition that the appellant pays Rs. 2500/- to the respondents within 15 days. Failure to pay would result in the appeal being dismissed with costs. The Central Agency Section needs to be strengthened to ensure prompt and satisfactory handling of cases involving the Government of India and State Governments. The Law Ministry has proposed to increase the strength of lawyers in the Central Agency Section to improve representation in court. Salary and conditions of service for lawyers in the Central Agency Section need to be enhanced to attract top talent for cases involving public interest and heavy stakes.
