The Supreme Court of India noted that the Special Commissioner, Customs, quashed 12 show cause notices of alleged illegal import. The Government of India issued orders stating that exporters violating Modvat Credit conditions can avoid action by reversing credit with interest by 31-1-1997. The court decided not to consider the petition further, letting the law take its course.
