17. Amendment of section 45. In section 45 of the Income-tax Act,- (a) in sub-section (1), for the word, figures and letter and 54G , the figures, letters and word , 54G and 54H shall be substituted; (b) in sub-section (5), in clause (a), for the words income under the head Capital gains of the previous year in which the transfer took place , the words income under the head Capital gains of the previous year in which such compensation or part thereof, or such consideration or part thereof, was first received shall be substituted and shall be deemed to have been substituted with effect from the 1st day of April, 1988.
