18. Amendment of section 80G. In section 80G of the Income-tax Act, (i) for sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely: (1) In computing the total income of an assessee, there shall be deducted, in accordance with and subject to the provisions of this section, an amount equal to fifty per cent. of the aggregate of the sums specified in sub-section (2). ; (ii) in clause (i) of sub-section (5), after the words, brackets and figures or clause (23) , the words, brackets, figures and letter or clause (23C) shall be inserted.
