Article 333 - Representation of the Anglo-Indian community in the Legislative Assemblies of the States - Constitution of IndiaExtract Article 333. Representation of the Anglo-Indian community in the Legislative Assemblies of the States.- Notwithstanding anything in article 170, the Governor 1 [***] of a State may, if he is of opinion that the Anglo-Indian community needs representation in the Legislative Assembly of the State and is not adequately represented therein, 2 [ nominate one member of that community to the Assembly. ] ********************* NOTES:- 1 . Omitted vide Article 29 of the Constitution (7th Amendment) Act, 1956 dated 19-10-1956 w.e.f. 01-11-1956, before it was read as, or Rajpramukh 2 . (1) Substituted vide Article 4 of the Constitution (23rd Amendment) Act, dated 23-01-1970 w.e.f. 23-01-1970, before it was read as, nominate such number of members of the community to the Assembly as he considers apropriate (2) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall affect any representation of the Anglo-Indian community in the Legislative Assembly of any State existing at the commencement of this Act until the dissolution of that Assembly.
