Sir/Madam, I am directed to state that it has been noticed that proposals for grant of extension of deputation period of officers in Special Economic Zones are sent to this Department for approval in a routine manner without indicating adequate justification and also whether the extension of deputation period is in public interest. Further, the proposals are also sent very late allowing this Department very little time for processing the proposal. In some cases, extension of deputation has been sought even after the expiry of approved tenure of deputation. The approvals in many cases are to be granted by Commerce Secretary or CI M.
