The Delhi Commissionerate widens scope of coverage of Audit - Service Tax - Release

The Commissionerate of Service Tax, Delhi has decided to widen the coverage of its Audit activities starting in April 2008. A number of hitherto sparingly covered services have been taken up for audit like GTA, Cargo Handling and Packaging, Outdoor Caterers, Mandap Keepers, Custom House Agent, Computer Training Institutes, Broadcasting Agencies, Event Management, Tour Operators and Architect, Besides the usual Audit in major services like Banking, Financial, Insurance, BAS, Management Consultancy, Real Estate, IPR etc. Audit entities which are claiming significant refund claims under Rule 5 of the CENVAT Rules, are also being taken up for Audit. Two new teams have been added to already existing eight teams to take up the work.
