Appointment of custodian of imported goods at ICD, Madurai - Customs - 3/99

Public Notice No. 3/99 Dated 25/02/1999 In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 45 (1) of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) , I, K. Parasuraman, Commissioner of Central Excise, Madurai hereby appoint M/s. Container Corporation of India Ltd., Chennai- 600 003, (A Government of India Undertaking) to be the Custodian of imported goods received in containers at Inland Container Depot, Madurai and /or transhipped to Inland Container Depot, Madurai until these are cleared for home consumption or are warehoused or are transhipped in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VIII of the Customs Act, 1962 . Similarly, M/s. Container Corporation of India Ltd., Chennai will also be the custodian of export Cargo brought into I.C.D., Madurai for stuffing, accountal, Customs Examination, Transportation and safe delivery of the customs sealed containers at the Gateway Ports of Chennai and Tuticorin for onward shipment. 2. M/s Container Corporation of India Ltd., Chennai as the Custodian of goods meant for export and Import would be required to comply with the provisions of Section 45(2) of the Customs Act, 1962 as well as the rules and regulations and instructions issued from time to time on the subject mentioned above.
