No. VIII(H)9/CT/PN/11/2020/ Date: 27.03.2020 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 15/2020 Subject: - Facilitation of clearance of import containers due to lockdown declared by the Govt. of India Reg. Representation from Trade has been received regarding difficulty in timely filing of Bills of Entry due to due to outbreak of Covid-19 in the country and lockdown declared by the Govt. of India warranting precautionary measures. The Trade has requested for waiver of the late fee imposable in terms of Bill of Entry (Forms) Amendment Regulations, 2017, vide notification No. 27/2017-Cus(N.T.) dated 31.032017 read with second proviso to section 46(3) of the Customs Act, 1962. Considering the genuine difficulty faced by the Trade, it is decided in the Public Interest to waive the abovementioned late fee in respect of the Bills of Entry, filed belatedly, which pertain to IGMs filed on or after 20 March, 2020, until further orders. The above decision taken in the Public interest should be considered as standing order for the purpose of officers and staff.
