Minutes of the Monthly Modvat meeting held at Bombay on 22-4-1989 - Regarding admissibility of Modvat credit on thinners used in spray painting of Automobiles Circular No. 21/89 Dated 21-8-1989 [From F. No. 263/29/89-CX.8] Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Central Board of Excise Customs, New Delhi Subject : Minutes of the Monthly Modvat meeting held at Bombay on 22-4-1989 - Regarding admissibility of Modvat credit on thinners used in spray painting of Automobiles. I am directed to refer to the minutes on Point No. 5 of the monthly Modvat meeting held with the trade representatives at Bombay on 22-4-1989. Trade had expressed the view that Modvat credit should be permitted on the thinners used for diluting paints used for spray painting of Automobile and parts thereof. The matter has been further examined by the Board. It has been decided to permit Modvat credit on the thinners used as diluents for paints which are used for spray painting of automobile and parts thereof, provided such thinners are notified under Modvat scheme. Instructions issued vide Board's F. No. B.22/32/87-TRU, dated 23-9-1987 and even No. dated 5-4-1988 stand modified to this effect. Field formations and trade interest may be suitably informed.
