Import of maintenance free batteries allowed against licence - Customs - 019/96Extract Import of maintenance free batteries allowed against licence Circular No. 19/96-Cus. Dated 3-4-1996 [From F. No. 605/14/95-DBK] Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi I am directed to say that the question of importability of maintenance free batteries was considered by the Specified Licensing Committee (SLC) at its meeting held on 30-5-1995. The Committee had decided that maintenance free batteries being consumer goods are covered under the Negative List of Imports and therefore, cannot be allowed to be imported without a licence. Instructions may please be issued to all concerned under your jurisdiction to ensure that maintenance free rechargeable storage batteries may not be allowed to be imported without a licence. Copy to Directorate General of Foreign Trade, New Delhi with reference to their D.O. No. 46 (1607/92-97/IPC/1553, dated 8-11-1995.
