Central Government notified the area at Doddathogur Village, Begur Hobli, Electronic City, Bangalore in the State of Karnataka, comprising of the specified survey numbers and areas as a ‘Special Economic Zone’. - S. O. 1025 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION dated 07 July 2006 S. O. 1025 (E) - Whereas the proposal of M/s. Wipro Limited for setting up of a Special Economic Zone for Information technology at Bangalore in the State of Karnataka was approved on the 23rd September, 2005 by the Board of Approval constituted by the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department of Commerce) number 14/1/2001-EPZ, dated the 7th August, 2001 and the possession of the land for the said purposes was already taken over by M/s. Wipro Limited on the 22nd January, 2004; And whereas sub-rule (3) of rule 5 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 covers all the approval accorded or recommendation made by the Board of approval before the commencement of the said rules for setting up of Special Economic Zone for various sectors and makes further provisions for development of setting up of such Special Economic Zones; And whereas the Central Government with a view to give continuity to the said proposal of M/s. Wipro Limited considers it necessary that the recommendation given by the Board of Approval be notified in terms of the Special Economic Zones Rules. 2006 ; Now therefore in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 and after grant of the letter of approval on the 9th June, 2006, under Sub-section (10) of Section 3 of the said Act, to the M/s.
