SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE BOARD OF INDIA NOTIFICATION Mumbai, the 31 st March, 2005 S.O. 461(E).- Whereas vide clause (a) of Notification No. S.O. 1077(E), dated 28th September, 2004, all resident investors not being bodies corporate who entry into any securities market transaction (including any transaction in the primary market or secondary market in any listed securities and any transaction in units of mutual funds or collective investment schemes) of value of one lakh rupees or more were notified as specified investors for the purposes of clause (v) of sub-regulation (1) of regulation 2 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Central Database of Market Participants) Regulations, 2003 (hereinafter referred to as the said Regulations ); And whereas clause (b) of the said notification specified the 31st day of March, 2005 as the notified date for the purposes of sub-regulation (1) of regulation 6 of the said Regulations within which such specified investors were required to obtain unique identification numbers; And whereas the Board has received representations about undue hardship which may be caused to some categories of specified investors; And whereas the Board has appointed a committee to re-examine the coverage of the requirement to obtain unique identification numbers by various market participants under Chapter II of the said Regulations, suggest future implementation schedule based on the coverage and review the cost of obtaining the unique identification number and the committee has been given two months time to submit its report; Now therefore in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-regulation (1) of regulation 6 of the said Regulations and in partial modification of Notification No. S.O. 1077(E), dated 28th September, 2004, the Board hereby specifies the 31st day of December, 2005 as the notified date for the purposes of sub-regulation (1) of regulation 6 of the said Regulations for the aforesaid specified investors .
