Central Excise Rules - Fourth Amendment of 1997 Notification No. 16/97-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 30-5-1997 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 1997 . (2) They shall come into force on the 1st day of June, 1997. 2. In Chapter V of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in section E-VI, for the heading, "Stainless Steel Pattis/Pattas", the following shall be substituted, namely :- "Stainless Steel Pattis or Pattas, or Aluminium Circles". 3. In rule 96ZA of the said rules, for the words "stainless steel pattis/pattas falling under Chapter 72" the words "stainless steel pattis or pattas falling under Chapter 72, or aluminium circles falling under Chapter 76" shall be substituted. 4. In rule 96ZB of the said rules, - (a) for the words "stainless steel pattis/pattas falling under Chapter 72" the words "stainless steel pattis or pattas falling under Chapter 72, or aluminium circles falling under Chapter 76" shall be substituted. (b) for the words "stainless steel pattis/pattas", wherever they occur, the words "stainless steel pattis or pattas, or aluminium circles" shall be substituted. 5. In rules 96ZC, 96ZD and 96ZE of the said rules, for the words "stainless steel pattis/pattas", wherever they occur, the words "stainless steel pattis or pattas, or aluminium circles" shall be substituted.
