Central Excise (Third) Amendment Rules - Certain amendments to be effective from 1-9-1996 Notification No. 20/96-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 31-7-1996 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 14/96-Central Excises (N.T.), dated the 23rd July, 1996, namely :- In the said notification, in rule 1, for sub-rule (ii), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely :- "(ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette except that the rule 4, sub-rule (i) and (ii) of rule 6, rule 7 and sub-rule (iii) of rule 10 shall come into force on the 1st day of September, 1996.".
