Surat Export Processing Zone - Specifications of Notification No. 7/96-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 15-3-1996 In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (i) of Explanation 2 to the proviso to sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), read with clause (va) of rule 2 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby specifies the Surat Export Processing Zone at Surat as a "free trade zone". Explanation. - For the purposes of this notification, "Surat Export Processing Zone" means the Surat Export Processing Zone at Sachin, Taluka Choryasi, District Surat in Gujarat, comprising of the places bearing the block numbers, and enclosed by the boundaries specified below. Village : Sachin, Taluka : Choryasi, District : Surat. The total area of Surat Export Processing Zone is 4,17,997 square metres comprising of the following Block Numbers, namely :- 277 (Part), 287 (Part, 321 (Part), 322 (Part), 323, 324 (Part), 325 (Part), 326 (Part), 327 (Part), 328, 329, 330, 331, 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 340 (Part), 341 (Part), 342 (Part), 343, 344, 345 (Part), 346, 347, 348, 385, 386 (Part), 388 (Part), 391 (Part), 392, 393, 394, 395, 397 (Part), 398, 399, 400, 428. Village Sachin, Taluka Choryasi, District Surat (Gujarat) lying at a distance of about 15 Kilometres from the port of Magdalla and about 12 Kilometres from the Surat Airport, about 1.5 Kilometres from Sachin Railway station enclosed by 3.7 metres high boundary wall with Y-shaped barbed wire fence. Boundaries :- North side : Kakrapar canal. South side : Diamond Industrial Park. East side : Surat Bombay railway line. West side : Kakrapar canal.
