Central Excise (5th Amendment) Rules, 1990 Notification No. 24/90-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 18-6-1990 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :- 1.(1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (5th Amendment) Rules, 1990. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In rule 57-I of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, after sub-rule (1), the fol lowing explanation shall be inserted, namely :- "Explanation :- Where the service of the notice is stayed by an order of the Court, the period of such stay shall be excluded from computing the aforesaid period of 6 months or 5 years, as the case may be."
