Amendment to Notification No. 87/89-C.E. [ Ch. 85] Notification No. 139/89-C.E. Dated 16-5-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 87/89-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1989, namely :- (a) In the Table annexed to the said notification, for serial number 22 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be substituted, namely :- (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) "22. 8528.00 Television receivers combined in the same housing, with video recording or reproducing apparatus. 35% ad valorem -". (b) After the Table annexed to the said notification, the following Explanation shall be inserted, namely :- "Explanation. - For the purposes of this notification Television receivers-picture-in-picture type means a Television receiver capable of receiving and exhibiting two or more visual programmes simultaneously, out of which at least two programmes have originated from telecast channels."
